Kitchen Extension

When Lisa Hensby reimagined her own family kitchen in Yorkshire, the brief was simple: make it beautiful, but make it work. Living a busy life with her partner, three children and assorted pets, she values function as highly as finish, so she removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room, added a structural steel and extended the rear by just 1.4 metres, proving you don't always need a huge extension, just the right one. A 7.2-metre run of bifold doors floods the space with light, while a quartz waterfall island, softened with black leather detailing, anchors a room designed for connection.

Behind the Studio

Celebrity interior designer Lisa Hensby offers online design services and full renovations, bringing expert style to any home, on any budget.

Lisa is self-taught, which means she learned this trade the expensive way: on site, on real projects, getting things wrong and working out why. She'd rather you didn't. So she shares the lot, the budgets, the mistakes, the things that go wrong behind the plasterboard. And because her studio designs, builds and styles under one roof, there's nobody to pass the blame to. Everyone deserves to live in a home they love, no matter the budget.
