Family Kitchen Transformation

When the owners of this three-storey family home approached Lisa Hensby Design & Build Studio, their kitchen had a familiar problem: it sat at the dark front of the house, disconnected from the garden. Lisa's solution was to flip everything, knocking through two underused rear reception rooms and relocating the kitchen to the light-filled, garden-facing side to create a 30-foot kitchen-diner that becomes the heart of the home. A booth banquette sits beneath a new window, a floating quartz shelf doubles as a breakfast bar and homework station, a fully fitted utility room hides behind the cabinetry, and a dramatic black quartz waterfall island completes the space.

Behind the Studio

Celebrity interior designer Lisa Hensby offers online design services and full renovations, bringing expert style to any home, on any budget.

Lisa is self-taught, which means she learned this trade the expensive way: on site, on real projects, getting things wrong and working out why. She'd rather you didn't. So she shares the lot, the budgets, the mistakes, the things that go wrong behind the plasterboard. And because her studio designs, builds and styles under one roof, there's nobody to pass the blame to. Everyone deserves to live in a home they love, no matter the budget.
